Cookery Corner First Class

Mamma Mia, pizzaria! The boys and girls of First Class had a great time making, cooking and best of all eating some very tasty pizzas! They were all wonderfully enthusiastic chefs, following the recipe exactly and hardly making any mess at all.  The excitement when the pizzas came out of the oven was a sight to behold, and all the children took great pride in the delicious results of all their hard work.  They have promised me they would love to cook pizzas for their families at home, although I cannot guarantee that their washing up skills will be as good as their cooking skills.  A huge well done to all the boys and girls in First Class.

Third Class made delicious Frittatas.  The children worked really well together. They demonstrated excellent chopping skills as well as wonderful turn taking and listening skills.
The children chose their own fillings and were very adventurous in their selection. The Frittatas were accompanied by a leafy green salad.
Bon appetit!

Fourth class made delicious vegetable pasta bake. The children learned  how to use a kitchen knife safely and took turns peeling onions and garlic, learned how to dice onions, crush garlic and chop mushrooms. We were careful to slice the peppers in a way that made sure the seeds didn’t go everywhere!
The children took turns simmering the onions and garlic over in a little olive oil on the stove, while the rest of the vegetables were prepared. Meanwhile, some kids boiled the water for the pasta.
One group strained the pasta while some others placed the cooked vegetables in the dishes. Another group combined the pasta and veg while more kids sprinkled cheese.
While the pasta dish baked, we set the table and made sure we had enough place setting for the whole class.
Table leaders took orders for those who wanted less cheese and the plates were served.
Fourth class had a delicious dining experience!

5th Class cooked some Italian cuisine for their cookery session. The recipe was a creamy tomato pasta bake and we think they did fantastic job! It was served with some delicious garlic bread. One child was quoted as saying “Guys, it’s actually nice!”
