Shay-Our School Therapy Dog (Puppy in Training!)

Shay-Our School Therapy Dog (Puppy in Training!)

Shay was born on 13th June 2023. Katie H. collected him from My Canine Companion on 24th August and he has been living with her since then. He has been working hard at his puppy training since then with some of his siblings- Séanie, Stanley, Simon, Sloane and Sadie. He attends school each day and is getting to know all of his lovely friends at CETNS. He has had an eventful month:

  • He started school
  • He made more than 200 friends
  • He visited the Vet at Paw Paws
  • He learned how to walk up and down the stairs safely
  • He visited UCC twice
  • He went to Mahon Point
  • He walked around Blackpool Shopping Centre
  • He has been in 2 lifts
  • He learned how to sit safely in the car
  • He attended Assembly
  • He attended the School Open Night
  • He has been at lots of parent/teacher meetings!
  • He got his training vest

Shay is making great progress and is looking forward to spending some time in the classrooms and on the yard when he is ready. If you meet Jonathan or Katie H. with Shay around the school the best thing you can do to help is ignore him- I know that’s very difficult because he is very cute- but he will make faster progress in his training if we all do this!

December Core Value: happiness

December Core Value: happiness

Happiness is not about feeling great all the time. It’s not always about new toys or sweet treats. It’s more about appreciating the positive and healthy things that make you feel good. This can look like lots of things – feeling safe, to relaxing, enjoying something you are good at, spending time with friends and family, looking after your body, and being kind to yourself.

So what makes you feel happy?

Halloween Parade 2022

Halloween Parade 2022

This years Halloween Parade was a great success. The costumes on display were AMAZING! The effort that children and parents put in was incredible. Our Grand Marshall was Sceili the Skeleton. The PTA were fantastic as our stewards at the various crossings and it made the whole parade flow effortlessly. The people of Cork city could not help but smile as we passed by and the best news is we have raised close on €1,000! We are thrilled. We are open for online donations for the whole of mid term break and will happily accept any sponsorship cards outstanding. Wishing everybody a Spooktacular Halloween!

PS a really big thank you to the PTA who so generously provided every child in the school with hot chocolate with marshmallows on their return to school!
